Range Murata's [formcode] – futuregraph

World of My Dreams

“But even so, every now and then I would feel a violent stab of loneliness. The very water I drink, the very air I breathed, would feel like long, sharp needles. The pages of a book in my hands would take on the threatening metallic gleam of razor blades. I could hear the roots of loneliness creeping through me when the world was hushed at 4 o’clock in the morning.”

funny_bunny: I was in dreamland and in love. Once! And then twice! There were two!

nde: Same person?

funny_bunny: Nope!

nde: Hm.

funny_bunny: Range Murata Release Time! It’s the FUTUREGRAPH part of FORMCODE.

nde: Three years of life.

funny_bunny: Where was nde from 2003-2006?

nde: Can’t remember. They’re back.

funny_bunny: Oh? Here come our three stooges!

Kawaii Pattycakes: Sup-desu!

prettyprophet: You’re doing the post now? Hey, Mori’s here too, so it ain’t just three, motherfucker.

Lavie Rhap: Let’s keep the amount of people speaking minimal, lest Killer Ink be bothered.

funny_bunny: FUCK HIM.

prettyprophet: Yeah, like he reads this anyways. So what’d you two talk about?

nde: Dreams.

funny_bunny: Fun.

prettyprophet: Right, we’re cutting that out. Range Murata, “formcode”, “futuregraph”. Here’s what ak, Rabbit translator extraordinaire, has to say about it:

Apparently there’s a Wani magazine called Kairakuten and he’s been doing one picture every month there. It’s a series called “futuregraph”. Now, under each picture there’s a good sized paragraph on what’s going on in his life, and usually the picture has something to do with that. Like, when he visited America he drew a pic of a warplane (god, he’s got the US pegged) and I think #17 is the cover of the first Robot volume, etc. The first 32 or so futuregraph pictures are in his artbook Form/Code, which I imagine you’ve seen (the download I’ve got has 3/4 meg pages, although the quality is not the best.). I’ve seen loads of these pictures floating around the Net as well (just type in “range murata futuregraph”). I don’t know that Murata’s life is that interesting (way cooler than ABe’s sure, but that’s not saying much, ABe is so virginal and pure) but a lot of the pictures are ridiculously gorgeous and people might be interested in any scraps of info on how he made them or why.

funny_bunny: formcode! Form Code! form:code! Form/Code! FORM|CODE.

prettyprophet: We used scans from BURNT-FISH…whose site is now sadly defunct. Not surprising, considering the hella big hosting of high-res artbooks. Resized to 1600 height. I want to say that I’m very VERY sorry for the squeezing in of text (even had to cut out some notes from ak)…this was a bitch to typeset but I said I’d do it, so there.

funny_bunny: I want a Murata China-dress! SO I CAN DRESS NDE UP IN IT.

nde: I’d like that watch.

prettyprophet: Next birthday, kid. Murata UNDERWEAR, that’s where it’s at. Seriously, someone, import Murata’s clothes. You got the Rabbit market!

nde: Wasn’t this book the SBSB source?

prettyprophet: Oh yeah, it was, wasn’t it?

funny_bunny: NOPE. FUTURHYTHM TOO.

Lavie Rhap: Before we end, I’d like to reiterate what I’ve stated in the credits: we can only do the “futuregraph” section for now since “after service” is handwritten and undecipherable to ak. If there is anyone capable of translating it, we would love to continue working on formcode.

funny_bunny: Translated by AUDACIOUS AK. If you don’t clicky his site, HE’LL STOP TRANSLATING??? AND THE RABBITS WILL DIE.

prettyprophet: FORUMS. Join. YAMADA NAITO. Send.

nde: Enjoy Range Murata’s aether.
