what an impressive mind that Leiji has; pity the anime was so censored (something I never expected to say about the anime in question). The translation of this seriously does the strange humour justice, thanks guys.
I now wonder if the character dynamics in Harlock and Galaxy Express mangas were completely altered by the bits from the manga that were left out too; somehow I doubt it, but it’s a disturbing thought..

Yeah Ratatosk – I think I posted this in the forums but the Gun Frontier manga has an solid ending. Not half assed “Oh noes. No conclusive ending” ending, but a real one. So look forward to that.

I remember hearing a conversation between boy Rabbits who I won’t name (mainly because I think those guys have some sense of dignity, unlike Ed or Funny) saying that if a girl ever asked one of them to fuck on the condition that another also ‘participates’ at the same time…….they’d be fine with it. And there’s your Rabbit version of friendship between men.
Also Fallen, you’re the awesome one for giving ak his Leiji fix and making manly men of us all.
Like many others, I saw the anime first, and, actually, considered the situation natural – two men, one woman, sex is all around, but no, no, no, the main characters don’t do that, and you wonder when, or whether ever, keeping in mind other Harlock reincarnations. Adds suspense to the story.
So when I had a chance to page through the manga, in Japanese (where the only words I could decipher were Harokku, Tochiro and Shinunora), it cracked me up to see that every time Harlock and Shinunora discussed things while Tochiro was away in the anime, in manga they were enjoying much better time together. And I am all for it. Poor devil is not so lucky with women in other franchise, mostly killing or ignoring those who come closer :) :) :)
And now it is even more fun to watch their conversations in the OVA, too.

Personally it is hard to see Harlock screw someone BUT I think it would be weirder to see him not (I’m just not use to it). And just like you, I saw the anime before the manga – so at first I was hesitant but … Leiji’s humor is pretty awesome …
And oh the conversations ARE fun … heaps of fun … ;)
The fundamental “problem” is that Harlock and Tochiro each are supposed to have one “eternal lover” (and no, it’s not each other): I’m talking about Maya and Emeraldas. Because of this, they’re condemned not to get involved with any of the other beautiful women they meet. In Gun Frontier everything is possible because these are Harlock’s and Tochiro’s ancestors, and not the regular guys.
Maetel has it worse, she doesn’t even have one lover, she’s supposed to spend all her time introducing small boys to her mother.
You’d think there’d be more Harlock hentai djs that turn into yaoi in the middle anyways. Even manliness can’t fuck with yaoigirls.

Oh no X3 I haven’t READ them as such … just seen images. You know – it is easier anyway to say “Ah it is only fan fiction” then the creator going out and doing it … but I’m over it X3 Harlock screwing women is cool now :D
But the worst one I think that I HAVE read through was the doujinshis of Maetel/ Tetsuro and Conductor/ Tetsuro. Those were really … lolicon-ish.

Harlock and Tetsuro I do NOT approve of. That’s just wrong.
And Fallen, my last sentence re: Maetel is completely accurate. Let me explain myself:
Maetel’s job is to entice little boys into getting in the train with her, where she will take them to her mother’s place (after enjoying a few hot spring baths and the like). Her mother needs little boys because they complete her…without boys she just can’t fulfill her mission, and how she uses the boys is turning them into screws and then inserting them into her inner core.
If you think that’s dirty, go complain to Leiji. I’m not the creator!
I don’t approve of that either, as well as maetel/conductor and Tetsuro.
I know it is accurate X3 I have seen the movie … just the way you keep saying it sounds like Maetel’s mother is having happy time with small little boys and Maetel is rounding them up for her.
Oh I’m so going to use that explanation in the future. I really am. It is just … so classic!
